In Judaism, all of life's major rites of passage are celebrated publicly, from birth through b'nai mitzvah and marriage, even death. All are shared with family, friends, and/or the entire community. For more information about any Life Cycle celebration, please contact Rabbi Elder.
Birth
Every person born into this world represents something new, something that never existed before, something original and unique. It is therefore the duty of every person to know and consider his/her uniqueness. In Judaism, that uniqueness is represented through his/her Hebrew name, a symbol that links the child to generations past and future. At Hakafa, Rabbi Elder, in conjunction with the parents, designs and conducts baby naming ceremonies for both baby boys and girls. Bar/Bat Mitzvah
The Hakafa Bar/Bat Mitzvah service is a wondrous celebration. Individually crafted by the student with the help of his/her teachers and family, the process and the service are both joyful and meaningful. Click here to learn more about Hakafa B'nai Mitzvah.
Marriage
Please contact Rabbi Elder if you are interested in having him conduct a wedding ceremony.
The congregation owns a beautiful chuppa designed by artist and member, Judith Joseph, for use by Hakafa members.
Death
Death is one of of life's major rites of passage. For more information about end of life issues, or if someone in your family has recently passed away, please contact Rabbi Elder.
